Hello reader! If you are reading this post I hope you are a like-minded hopeless romantic like myself. I love romance novels and movies. However, I am constantly in a struggle of trying to find a good clean book. So, I decided to make a list of my top 5 favorite clean romance books from this year ( or at least this year so far ):

Cinders, stars, and glass slippers — By Brittney Fichter —

Fair warning, in 2018 I have been on a fairy-tale remake kick. So, most of these are fairy-tale remakes. Of all the fairy-tales, I happen to be addicted to Cinderella remakes the most. But, after a while they get rather bland. After all how much can you do with a ball, a glass slipper and a prince? This book proved me wrong. It was a fantastic twist on the classic tale. Nothing was what I originally thought it would be. The characters were real, they had flaws and some of the time I really didn’t like them. However, in the end they won me over.

Now don’t get me wrong, as with any fairy-tale book some things were fairly predictable. However, the author weaved a new spin on a classic story that I fell in love with.

The Seer and the Sword — By Victoria Hanley —

If you are a kindle only reader then this book is not for you. While this book is not entirely romance, it is certainly romantic. I loved the characterization and imagery that came with this book. Torina as a character starts out spoiled and a little haughty. However, as this book starts when she is 8 and ends in her 20’s there is a lot of growth.

Also, If ever I had a fictional character love. It is Landen. Exiled prince forced to live in enemy territory he is a contradiction. While he is bitter at times, he never lets his bitterness define who he is or what he does. He is a strong fighter but yet chooses peace.

All in all, I loved this book and will probably be reading it again soon and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fantasy novel! In fact, you can view a fun little student made project on the book here: Seer and the Sword Trailer and interactive map

A Dance of Silver and Shadow — By Melanie Cellier —

This one was interesting. I was as intrigued by they dark take on the classic ‘twelve dancing princesses’ novel as I was the romance that occurred in this story. Twin sisters visit a faraway lands in hope for romance. However, they instead find a land enshrouded with shadow and darkness. Caught up in a mysterious tournament with 10 other princesses they must figure out how to survive. Luckily for them, they have a secret advantage to help them navigate the challenges ahead.

As I said a great story and an unexpected twist. I stayed glued to the page wondering how things would turn out and who in the end would ‘win’ the tournament

Mansfield — By Misty Dawn Pulsipher —

If you haven’t already guessed this is a retelling of Mansfield Park by Jane Austin. Now I must confess, I have yet to read Mansfield Park. However, this modern take on the story has made me want to pick it up! I love our female character. Victim of an abusive home

and relocated to live and Mansfield Anika falls in love with Edmund. The son of the family that has taken her in. However, when Edmund seems to be falling in love with another Anika must decide what to do. There are few things I hate more than whinny, helpless female leads. While Anika starts this way, eventually she finds her back bone and learns to stand for her self. I loved watching the character progression in this story! I would also strongly recommend the authors other two remakes: Prides Prejudice and Persuaded all are fantastic takes on the classic novels.

** Also, by way of fair warning. While there are no sex scenes in these books there is a bit of making out and a few innuendos.

Royal Magic — By KM Shea —

I just recently discovered KM Shea this year on cleanpages.net and I must say I have been thrilled with her works. There are several of her books I could have put on this list. However, this one beat the rest out when it released later this year.

If I am being honest, I picked this book up 100% positive that I would not like it. I had read the first book and therefore knew the main male character of this story. Benjimr makes an appearance in Red Rope of Fate as the crown prince who is in love with the crown princess of the elves. However, this story was about ‘a marriage of convenience that occurs between him and the crown princesses little sister. I wasn’t sure how KM Shea would pull of this love story. However, she did it fantastically by the end I was convinced that our main characters were the best pairing. It was fun to watch Benjimr’s attitude change throughout the story. It was also fun to watch Gwendafyn break out of her shell and become more comfortable in her own skin. All in all, while I could recommend any of KM Shea’s novels to you, I would say you if nothing else, pick up this one and give it a try!

Well, that wraps this up for now! I hope that this will give you a good clean book that you can start reading! I would love to hear from each of you. Please comment with your favorite clean romance books from this year!
